Comments - Real-Time Feedback

Blogs enable people to simply and easily publish content and the commenting feature of blogs enable readers to immediately interact with that content sharing their own perspectives and ideas.

For example, NBC runs a Community Server blog for their popular U.S. morning show - The Today Show. The blog allDay The Today Show Family Blog provides a behind the scenes "after the show" follow-up to popular stories. The blog enables viewers to both get more details, but also to interact with the blog's staff through comments:

Each post/article within a blog can have its own comments and depending upon how the blog is configured the comments may be enabled, disabled, or set for moderation.

A comments section has two parts:

  1. Comments - These are the comments or feedback left by readers.
  2. Comment form - Information that is collected or required for a comment to be published.

Once a comment is published to the blog it is either published immediately to the site or is approved through moderation. At any point in time the blog owner(s) can review and manage comments using the comment moderation tools.
