Yes, Community Server allows you to do this. All content within Community Server is protected using permissions – so you can absolutely setup a community whereby people pay to get access to content.

Here is how this would work:

• A potential subscriber visits your site
• He browses some public content and (at your option) may see that there is some private content
• 3 days later he returns to your site, goes through your store and buys a 12 month subscription
• This add the subscriber to a security role “Paid Members”
• The subscriber now has access to all content

We do much the same thing with our Gold Forum support on www.communityserver.org. When people buy opt in for our support we add them to a role that gives them the ability to post in our Gold Support Forum.
