Stopping Truncating Posts on Aggregate Blog Pages

By default, Community Server truncates (as well as remove the HTML) any post from the aggregate blog home page if it is over 250 characters.

This is done for a couple of reasons:

  1. To keep the page nice and light. With 25 posts by default, it can get quite large.
  2. To keep the UI consistent. Different authors will choose their own fonts, colors, and images. Mix a couple of these together and you can have a mess.

However, there may be cases when you want to increase this value or stop it from happening entirely. Community Server makes this easy for you.

To make the change, navigate to Administration > Blogs > Default Presentation: (/controlpanel/BlogAdmin/Options/SkinOptions.aspx).

At the bottom of the form, you will see an area labeled, Aggregate Post Excerpt Size.

Change this value to your desired size and click Save. If you change the value to zero, Community Server will no longer truncate the post or remove the HTML.
