Content mirroring allows a blog to consume one or more external RSS sources. This is an extremely useful feature since it allows Community Server to bring in any external (or internal) content and be the starting point for sharing information. Community Server supports content mirroring with the RSS feed functionality.
A blog which is used for content mirroring looks similar to other content displayed on the site. The following example shows mirrored content (identified by "External Blog Post").
When a user searches for content for within Community Server, mirrored content is found and returned along with any site content. Community Server shows only an excerpt of the content, but Community Server’s search system indexes all content available within the RSS feed for the mirrored content.
When you click on the link, the browser is redirected to the requested site to read the content. In the example below, the URL is highlighted.
When you click on the blog, the browser takes you to another aggregate page that displays all mirrored content syndicated by this blog in chronological reverse order:
If the mirrored content contains tags, those tags are republished with the mirrored content within Community Server.
